TC Energy’s existing mobile solution was reaching the end of its life and could no longer support its growing operational needs.

Their technicians relied on manual, paper-based processes and disparate systems, such as spreadsheets and Word documents, to capture and connect data.

The Solution:

  • Rapid Deployment: Despite pandemic challenges, the team rolled out a pilot to 50 users across three countries, delivering 70+ customizations in record time.
  • Seamless SAP Integration: BlueWorx plugged directly into TC Energy’s SAP ecosystem, following standard transport systems without disruption.
  • Technician-Centered Design: A focus on intuitive usability, multiple form factors (iPads, laptops, browsers), offline-first capability, and multilingual support.
  • Powerful Inspections Feature: Enabled TC Energy to collect critical asset data directly in the field, strengthening master data quality and reliability.

The Outcome:

The impact of implementing BlueWorx was immediate and far-reaching. TC Energy significantly reduced development time, moving from a year-long version upgrade on their old system to delivering a full BlueWorx product in just five months.

Performance also improved significantly, with synchronization times decreasing by 30–40%, allowing technicians to access information faster and more reliably. Adoption across the workforce exceeded expectations, as even veteran technicians who were initially resistant to digital tools embraced the intuitive interface.

Beyond usability, BlueWorx brought measurable improvements to data integrity. Using the inspections feature, TC Energy captured more than 80,000 new asset metadata points in a single work order cycle, strengthening equipment records and reliability. The offline-first capability proved equally transformative, enabling technicians to work for days in remote locations without connectivity and sync seamlessly once back online.

Most importantly, the partnership between TC Energy and S4A has endured and expanded. Building on the success of BlueWorx, TC Energy continues to roll out Neptune-based applications to automate additional manual processes and solve new challenges across the organization.
